The recovery from Sunday's marathon has been going fairly well. Most of the soreness is now gone, even about 85% of the dreaded quadricep pain that forces many people to have to descend stairs backwards. (Actually it's kind of funny to watch....)
Mostly what's left now is the need for more rest. I was very fortunate that I actually slept 7 hours the night before the race. Usually people get so nervous they can't sleep like it's Christmas Eve or something. Sunday night I slept about 9 hours, but then Monday night I was up way too late and only slept about 4 hours. I made up for that last night with about 8 hours but I still feel really lethargic today.
It's kind of sucky but there is currently a lot of stress at work and it just so happens that I'm required to work my hardest in a long time this week and next. It's totally coincidental that it happens to be the two weeks between my big races, just like it was coincidental that certain things fell on my plate right as I wanted to take a day off here or there recently. It's enough to make me consider looking for a new job, though even that requires some brain power that I really don't feel like I have right now. Things are supposed to get better right before Thanksgiving.
So hopefully after a few more days of lots of sleep, I'll start feeling human again. :-)
