At the beginning of October, I wrote a blog of my October goals, printed it out the list, and posted it on my refrigerator. It is now the end of October, none of the goals are done, and every time I look at the list on the fridge, I feel like a failure.
I am deleting my October Goals blog and ripping up the list on the fridge. I attempted to do too much and just got overwhelmed. I do not need to feel like a failure! I do not need to beat myself up for not getting all those things done. What I do need to do is figure out what my goals are JUST FOR TODAY.
1. Walk the dog at least 15 minutes.
2. Strength training.
3. Track my food.
4. Cut down the flowers in the backyard.
5 Run the gas out of the lawnmower.
7. Wash the dishes (dishwasher broke)
8. Make appt. with neurologist.
9. Type up list of scavenger hunt items for my daughter's party.
10. Clean the litterbox
11.Scoop the dog poop.
12. Get the garbage out.
13. Organize the mail on the family room table.
I am a bit worried that this list is still too long...especially since it is already almost 1:30 p.m., but a lot of these things are quick. I already feel better knowing I have a plan. I think I will start making my "to do" list the night before so I know first thing in the morning what the plan is rather than wasting too much time playing computer Solitaire.
