I just finished my lunch here at work - tuna with celery & red pepper sticks , cheese stick and grapes (and my 1 Diet Coke for the day!) and I got to thinking that work is my healthy eating prison, oops, I mean haven!
I work in a small office with just me and my boss (who is rarely in the office). I work a 7.5 hour day, so I eat lunch at my desk. I bring my lunch just about every day. Maybe once a month I'll go to Subway or get a salad somewhere. I always pack something healthy and I have plenty of water bottles on hand. I'm a "creature of habit" and fine with eating just about the same thing for breakfast & lunch (M-F). I have an omelet in the morning (loaded with veggies) and either tuna or a salad for lunch.
As I've mentioned before, evenings and weekends are a challenge, but since I'm stuck here at work, I can only eat what I bring! It's a small office complex of one story suites, so there are no vending machines, no tempting "cafés", just what I bring!
I can remember in my previous jobs all the tempting "treats" people would bring, all the "pot lucks", parties, etc. and I would eat out almost every day. I feel blessed for my prison/haven because not only am I eating right, I'm saving money!
This is the start of my positive blogs (found myself being very negative the last couple of weeks).
I had a pretty nice weekend. We spent Thursday night at the AT&T store getting phone upgrades for me and DD#2. We were there for over 2 hours. It was a rainy night and they were very busy.
My kids were out of school on Friday. DD#2 went away for the weekend, DD#1 worked and DD#3 had a friend spend the night Friday. DH worked and was also working on a "side job", so he didn't feel like running or hiking the mountain park nearby (which I really wanted to do since it was a nice night). I almost blew off doing any type of exercise, but I decided to run by myself. I went to one of the greenway trails and got in over 2 miles of running. It was a really nice night, so I'm glad I went.
I spent most of Saturday doing my usual housecleaning. It was only DD#3 and me that evening, so we decided to go to Kohl's. She turned 13 a month ago and probably grew about 3 inches since last winter/early spring, so all of her jeans are too short. She's kind of a pain to shop with, but we actually had a nice time.
I ended up getting a new pair of jeans and 3 tops! Since I bought a whole new wardrobe about 2 years ago when I lost all of my weight, I really haven't bought myself anything new. I also got a lot of "hand me downs" from my sister and one of her friends (a lot of nice stuff, but some not my style). A lot of the stuff is starting to look "worn", so it was nice to get something new! I've got a big pile of clothes in my bedroom to bag up for "charity".
I was kind of lazy most of Sunday. DD#1 & DH both worked, DD#2 was still away and DD#3 had another friend over, so I spent most of the day watching football! My beloved Falcons & Steelers both won (finally), so it was a good day!
DD#2 got home just in time for her confirmation class and she still needed to run and do her "vertical" training. I told her we could run at the outdoor track since there were lights. We ended up getting Subway right after class (and ate after we ran) and then going to the track. We were running at 8:30 at night, but the park was pretty busy. There were baseball or softball games going on (which I thought was strange for a Sunday night) and the skate park & outdoor basketball courts were still busy. We were the only ones on the track and it was kind of "spooky" because the back side of the track is by the woods and there were a lot of "night sounds", coyotes, owls, etc. Plus there was a full moon. It was a beautiful evening and I really enjoyed the run. DD#2 didn't like it because she's an indoor sport kind of gal!
My sister came over yesterday with my great nephew and we went to the park and walked the hilly trail and played with him on the playground. He's 11 months and almost walking, but he can crawl very fast! One section of the playground is for toddlers, so he had a blast and he loves the swings!
I'll probably cut grass tonight. We haven't cut it since our major yard work/reseeding a couple of weeks ago, so it's looking a little long. A cold front is coming in tonight and it will be in the low 40's, high 30's tomorrow morning! It's only supposed to get up to 60, so it will be perfect to run or hike tomorrow!
