SparkPeople changed up their Start page Again. I did not like the last change, but got used to it.
This change was dramatic, but I think I enjoy it. If you haven't taken the tour, check out the official blog from the Spark Blogs: www.sparkpeople.com/blog
This one makes it easier for me to remember the things I need to do.
In Step 1, you get to log in all your stuff, your food, your exercise, your sleep, your water all those important things you should be doing, so it's prominent.
There is a floating bar that tells you how many spark points you've had for the day.
Step 2 is where you can find articles to inspire you or allow you to learn something and a goal board. They put a "coach's corner" where you can find the articles that will help you along. You can create a goal board that is like a slide show of the things you want to do, you have done, you will do to get to your goals and pictures that inspire you to finish your goals. For example, one of my long term goals are to be strong enough to live independently into old age, one of the pictures Spark had was one with a weight that says "Be Strong".
Step 3 is where you'll find the greater community. This is where the log in wheel is, your groups and where you can find the link to get to your Spark Page. Did you notice that you got points you can share with your groups? When you give those points to your groups (under the SparkAmerica Team Bonus Points tab), you get Spark points back. At the bottom of this step you see your streaks, your total points and your newest trophy.
Scroll down farther and you'll see more articles you can browse and other things you can do today on the site. This is where you see the recipe of the day, video of the day and all the rest of the stuff they though needed to be shown on the start page, but aren't things that are necessary to your day.
So far I'm enjoying it. I set up my goal board already, actually tracked my food for the day and reset my weight goal (again!) so that I can get this off in a reasonable time. I am giving myself a lot more time for the end result than I did the beginning, but I think that going slower and actually doing things to make myself stronger instead of focusing on loss of pounds will get me to my real goal of being strong enough to take care of myself until my mind goes.
