3rd Half-Marathon Recap!

Monday, October 21, 2013

Can I tell you how excited I am to have that done? Real excited. I know that's bad grammar and what not but I don't care. I was ready to be done running for a while and ready to have this race under my belt. The race went well. I forgot my garmin so I had no idea how fast I was running or my timing or anything. I think that helped to just run where I felt comfortable and enjoy the race. It went by fairly fast and I was thrilled that I finished in 2 hours and 18 minutes! I thought for sure I was looking at 2:30 but I killed it! My 1st half was 2:25, the 2nd was 2:22 so I got my personal best! I'm really proud of myself. I was having issues with my left hip, knee and foot pretty bad around mile 8 and on. I had to stop twice to stretch it out in hopes that it would loosen and not hurt as bad. I kept crinkling up my nose in pain, I sure hope they caught a picture of that! One lady at the last water station asked if I was ok. I said yes. She doesn't know how tough I am :) I iced the crap out of my knees and foot and today it's feeling much better. My muscles are really sore but that is to be expected after you kick @ss at a race. I know I'm full of myself today but I'm just so proud.

Here are some fun pics...

Kudos on leaving the Garmin at home (even if not on purpose). Running by feel adds a whole new dimension to races. Trickier but soooo valuable.

Love the beer & medal pic BTW!
