Another reason I want to get fit and be healthy is that osteoporosis runs in the family as well. My great aunt has a huge hump in her back. My mom was diagnosed with osteopenia in her early 50s, which led to her breaking so many bones when she was hit by a car a few years ago (he wasn't going fast, he had completely stopped but had taken off again when he hit her).
I don't want a big hump in my back, and I don't want to shatter when I hit something. I have been taking calcium chews inconsistently for years, and always try to get calcium in my diet. I know that weight bearing exercises help, so I need to keep doing those, and be more consistent in taking the calcium supplements.
