Isaiah 10. I made this.

Sunday, October 20, 2013

Read Isaiah 10.

There were some TV series a few years back that the end credit was a boy's voice saying; I made this. Certainly a statement of pride. God used Assyria to chasten Israel (Judah) for their arrogance and disobedience.
But in all of this even the king of Assyria will not recognize that God is sovereign. He had the 'I made this' attitude. God says that with this attitude Assyria is essentially a tool being used by God, and when He is done He'll toss it away.
We tread on dangerous ground when we look at our accomplishments and believe that we did it ourselves. God is and always will be sovereign, whatever I achieve is simply because He has given me the things I need to do so. I never simply want to be a tool for God, Jesus told His disciples that they were His friends. I want to be his friend.
