Given that tomorrow is race day, even though it is "only 9.3 miles" (as I found myself saying)... with the level I pressed myself to this past week, I opted to make today a rest day, the second in a row.
I did go to the grocery store to lay in the week's supplies to feed the body in training. I did go downtown to pick up my race day packet, but I drove, did not bike. The shirts are a little louder this year in their signage:
The highlight of the day, though, was that KALIGIRL had invited me to go for an afternoon walk with her and one of their four-pawed friends, Liz. Love the dogs... you know I do... and this is my "fix" for the week.
We took it easy as Becky had been a good citizen and donated blood today and I *was* on a rest day. We meandered through the park, enjoying a gorgeous day, and ended up back at her place sharing a cup of tea and solving the problems of the world that thank goodness WE don't get to / have to decide... as it never works out quite the way our minds plan it in the comfort of not having to live with the consequences of being the deciders!
A wonderful, soul-filling day... and restorative. Hoping that by start time tomorrow I'll be back into that coiled spring state... although I don't have to be quite there for this race. This was one I was attempting to use the training philosophy of "training through", meaning no real taper in the training... but obviously, my training cycle got skewed a bit recently.
Looking forward to what looks like GREAT weather for race time... high supposed to get up to maybe 69 tomorrow. In short, a carbon copy of today, maybe a degree or two warmer.
LIFE is good. Be at peace and treat yourself with the respect and love that you would your best friend. Namaste.
