COPD

Saturday, October 19, 2013

My sister whom I have been estranged from for 13 years and now have reunited with has COPD. I feel somewhat guilty for not being there for her all those years when she was abusing her health. Just hearing her cough and sounding so helpless makes me want to turn the time back. I wish there was something I could do to help her! I know that having positive thoughts and being there for her will help both of us deal with the time lost. Feeling melancholy and helpless!

The best thing you can do for her is to pray for her and make sure she is not exposed to any smoke.

Take this experience and use it to help someone else. I always find that when life gives me lemons, I get a chance to teach someone else about my experience.

I have learned in this life to be healthy, to be happy and to live each day to the fullest. We only have a certain number of days in this life, and we need to enjoy each and every one of them!

My father has COPD. Just today, my sister helped him learn to breath with pursed lips to help him. And we've been reading about positive affirmations. We, like you, are looking for ways to help.

You are there now. The past is over and gone and cannot be changed. You can make a different future

So often people think back to the past with regret, which is really a waste of time and precious emotional resources (though it is understandable).......Think of it this way - you are here for her *now* and before it becomes *too late*!

I know how you feel. My aunt was that way and it did not matter that we did not live in the same state - I still wanted to be there for her!
