My first virtual walk

Friday, October 18, 2013

About 10 days ago I started a virtual walk from Lands End, Cornwall, to John O'Groats,Scotland, with my Spark Friend DGILBRIDE1949. Well actually she started first, and I haven't caught up yet, but i'm on the road and making progress.

We are packing little tents but will stay in B&B's some nights too, and maybe find some interesting pubs along the way.

Denise is a pro at this. She has successfully completed 2 long virtual walks already. I'm the newbie, but I've always wanted to do a long distance walk. I've packed lots of band aids and some snacks, and am quite excited.

Want to join us? Follow our progress? Cheer us on? Check out the virtual walk team "where are you walking to?"

This sounds like so much fun - what a lot of things you would see and learn. I love this idea - I may have to join!

  Hi Gail.........
I am not quite sure how it works, but am guessing that you walk on a treadmill at home or keep track of how far you walk during the day and apply it to the total distance of the trip. Is this correct?
It sounds like fun.

    :D

I admit that when I first heard of the virtual walks I thought that they were kind of corny. After doing a virtual 1/2 marathon over a couple of weeks awhile back, the concept has kind of grown on me.

Best of fortune to you on yours!!

I love the virtual walks. If I had the time to blog it and read it I sure would go with you. I have done the great wall of China and we rowed to hawaii, They were both such a blast. Land's End to John o'Groats. I must remember that one I will try to catch it though. Thanks for reading my Blogs Pat in Maine.

Gail: How does it work? Are you tracking all your day-to-day walking and fitting it into the start and finish that you described?
