A lot has changed since my last post ~5 months ago. I am now at home, between jobs, looking for a job, enjoying having the internet so I can look for a job, and finally taking the time to get back on Sparkpeople! As a 5'3", 55 year old woman weighing in at 228, I have concerns about my image when I show up for a job interview. Most of my initial interviews are long distance phone calls or emails, but at some point I do show up for the "in-person" short-list interview. Can't help be concerned about age discrimination, and possibly weight discrimination. Hopefully not too much, as I work in science, but in reality I know that both exist. So I shall use this time as an incentive to get on the healthy eating and moving program.
First goal: Lose 5 pounds in the next 18 days.
Actions to achieve goal:
1. Eat healthy: I will start off by avoiding the Halloween candy now out in abundance. I will focus on taking in fiber in whole unprocessed or low-processed foods.
2. Get moving. Today I will go out at lunch and walk around my neighborhood. I've been doing way too much sitting (at the computer) since I became unemeployed.
3. Give thanks to God for providing me with internet so I can look for work (and be on Sparkpeople!) and good health so far despite my proclivities for unhealthy actions. God has been so good to me!
Looking forward to getting back in on the action here at Sparkpeople, and catching up on what people here have been up to.
