Mother's struggles

Friday, October 18, 2013

My 90 year old mother is having multiple problems. She has fallen down 4 times in one week. Unable to pull herself up, she has dragged herself across the floor, pounded on walls and yelled for help. She hasn't used the phone because she has forgotten how to use it so she can't make it work. Finally an ambulance would come and take her to the hospital. They would run all sorts of test on her then send her back home as they couldn't find any thing wrong to put her in the hospital. Finally I went to DSHS and they said I should refuse to take her home. Now the hospital got to work and she's now at a nursing home for "rehab". Her dementia, in the last couple of weeks has really gotten worse. My sister is in Calif. but she is helping by listening to me moan and groan as we work our way thtough the system. If any of us had money we would have her taken care of a long time ago. She was doing OK after her stroke but she slowly got worse. The last few weeks her legs have become very week and she has been more confused. She needs constant care now and she's not happy about it. This is very hard.

This is one of the hardest things we have to go through. Our parents are indestructible, aren't they? Bless you for your patience. Hope things get easier for you.
