The kids have the rest of the week off of school. They probably thought that they'd get out of doing a lot of things, but that's not in my plans. Today we're doing housework.
I already have most of the laundry washed and the kids get to do the folding. I even changed the sheets, which we don't do as often as we should. I'm glad that they are getting to learn the normal work that needs to go into having a clean home.
My daughter is almost 9, so she gets to do the dishwasher, loading and unloading. My son helps with some of the unloading, he'll be stepping up to loading it when he turns 8 next summer.
I find it frustrating to do all the work myself and since they are getting old enough to clean up more and more, I'll get to be able to have more clean areas instead of being overwhelmed. It would be so much better if they'd just do the work and not come up to me every 5 minutes complaining, perhaps they'd actually get things done in decent time instead of 3-4x as long as I could do them.
I'm hoping to have a sparkling home by the end of Monday. Tomorrow I concentrate on my husband's birthday dinner, he'll be 40! His request was mint cheesecake and bbq pulled beef.
Today's Holidays: Spirit Day (A day to learn how to stand against bullying), Mulligan Day, International Day for Eradication of Poverty, Get Smart About Credit Day, Wear Something Gaudy Day, Four Prunes Day and National Pasta Day.
