I was watching the start of the new season of the Biggest Loser and something one of the trainers said when talking to one of the contestants has stuck with me. They said to find your "why" and the "how" will follow. It made me think of the fact that sometimes we concentrate so much on how we should do things that we forget the true reasons of why we want to accomplish a goal. To do it (and this could apply to anything, not just weight loss) for someone else, or because you've always been told that's what you should do, or for maybe some kind of material gain like money, a better job, a bigger house, fancier cars, etc.
Whatever your goals are, do you really think about why you want to do it and find reasons deep down inside yourself why YOU want to do it. Not because of someone else (although that can be a factor in some things) but because of your own personal reasons why whatever you are going after is important to you. If you find the right reasons inside you, it will be much easier to find and do the how. If you are doing something for the wrong reasons, then whatever you are going after will always be a struggle. Even when doing it for your own reasons there will be struggles, but not the drag as when you are doing something because it's expected of you by factors outside of yourself. So think about the goals you have and ask yourself why you want them, especially if you are really struggling and the steps you have to take to reach whatever it is seem like such a drag weighing you down. Find joy in the goals you are going after, or change your goals to things that will help you find joy and fulfillment in life. We only have one life. Don't spend it always trying to go after goals and dreams that others have set for you, but go after the ones that really mean something significant to you and you set for yourself.
Have a great day!
