Alarm flag go up. The nibbling has started again today, on healthy things like a couple nuts and dates but nibbling nonetheless... and knowing myself it can easily lead into unhealthy nibbling. I have to and want to be on my toes in order not to slip back once again. Yet day 4 has been good. Dinner was a more "processed" meal though, I made Tortellini... I LOVE tortellini, and I reckon now and then eating something not quite as healthy is quite alright with me.
Today I rather felt like a very traditional housewife... I made beef stock and canned it, 16 jars of it, and I also made chicken stock, 8 jars of that. I started again baking my own bread. And this time I thought I go the whole way with making healthy bread: I actually bought wheat and rye berries and used a coffee grinder to make flour. Then I soaked it for a couple hours and baked my own bread... ok, the bread machine did, I cheated a little. If you like fluffy bread you wouldn't like it, but I did. It was dark, and dense and absolutely delicious. My boys loved it and ate a slice just like that.
I also let off some energy in the garden. Planted a couple more things, more tomatoes especially. I want big tomatoes this year, the previous years I always had cherry tomatoes which are great for eating but not so great if you'd like to make a sauce or something. Those tomato plant better grow up fast and produce LOTS of fruit cause I got high hopes and plans for them, starting from home made tomato paste and ending with home made ketchup.... you know... thinking about it, right now I feel like someone who just stumbled out of "Little Women"... Admittedly with a little help of modern appliances, like a dehydrator.. or a breadmachine.... or a kitchen aid... or a gas stove top and electric oven.
Hey, and don't you just love my garden layout plan made out of chalkboard contact paper??? I just love how it slowly fills up with plants actually planted in the garden
