My bike trip from Pittsburgh to D.C.

I did it! emoticon

Total miles of approximately 356. Three days of emoticon but more like torrential downpours.

I hope to post some pictures over the weekend. Might break it up into a few blogs showing the changes along the way. There were some pretty boring stretches but many very pretty stretches. Interesting people and places along the way. I will definitely ride parts of it again. On a clear, or at least dry, day.

The train back was nice but finding the boxes for our bikes was a challenge as Amtrak people get giving us conflicting directions. We finally got our 4 bikes boxed and turned in with FIVE minutes to spare! emoticon

Hopefully, in the near future bikes will be allowed to be rolled on. They tried this one day last week and it went well.

There are some long stretches where there is no food or lodging available so anyone planning to bike the entire way needs to do some careful planning. And packing.

Even with all the rain, and all the downed trees (due to the government shutdown) that had to be climbed over, it was a wonderful experience.
