what was i thinking???

A few years ago, I took up trail running. I loved it. But then I had surgery and a bad recovery and never really got back into it.
Today, an admired friend asked me why I stopped running and suggested that we run a 5K on New Year's Day. He is an avid runner and does lots of races, from 5Ks to full marathons, whereas I've never run a race in my life. I don't know if I can do it.
But that's exactly why I should.
So, starting tomorrow, my morning walk becomes a morning run/walk. Then, bit by bit, it will become a run/run. And I won't be able to punk out next month when it gets cold, because I have a race to run in January.
Heaven help me. What was I thinking?

    Start with one minute walk, one minute run and gradually increase 10 percent per week. You will love it!
