Today, SparkCoach suggested that I find a mantra. A couple of months ago, I think I found one written on the wall outside a local used book store:

If you can't read it, it reads, "Three Things to Remember: As long as you are dancing, you can break the rules. Sometimes breaking the rules is just extending the rules. Sometimes there are no rules. ~Mary Oliver, poet"

By "breaking the rules" I'm not giving myself permission to binge or snack mindlessly. Instead I'm recognizing that "rules" are often just guidelines. So much of this journey is about discovery - what works and what doesn't for each individual - finding your rhythm, and this may mean tweaking the guidelines so that they work for you and are sustainable in the long run.

    I really like this, Nancie --- especially the "As long as you are dancing..." part. I've always liked the analogy that all of life is like a dance, and this quote adds all of the mischievous fun that, to me, makes life worth living.
