Getting Ready For Saturday

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

Hubbie and I went for another practice walk where the 5k will be Saturday. I have been walking almost everyday for the past two weeks. Our time still isn't good. I just can't seem to walk any faster. Last year we did a lot better with the time. I guess those 5 back surgeries really affected me more than I want to admit. I am not going to let that stop me, though. Never give up. Never, never, never! Even if my time sucks this Saturday I am going to be happy that I did an official 5k and completed it. I seemed to have trouble while walking. I had to stop 3 times for a few seconds and take a big breath in order to continue. So frustrating! Hubbie got concerned and kept asking if I was alright. I was determine to get that practice in and we did it. I might try and take the dog out for a good walk this evening to keep myself in a strong state. My feet have been so blistered for a couple of weeks now. That doesn't make it any easier. I am not letting that stop me either. I tried a lot of things to help. The one thing that seems to be the best is taping a 4"x 4" gauze folded over with antibiotic ointment on it. I actually didn't have much pain from the blisters. I had hubbie to go buy a large box of these gauze, because I have done a lot of walking lately. Got to go! Woo Whoo! emoticon

and I'll be doing the same thing Saturday morning!

I have read comments from people who have problems with blisters that they'll coat their feet in a thin layer of Glide or Vaseline before putting their socks on. That eliminates the friction. Maybe you could try that on a short walk with the dog and see if it helps?

I cannot remember if you are diabetic, but if you are - be super careful with your feet!
