Is it in me to be a success story?

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

I want to know what it's like to be proud of my accomplishments, with weight loss and personal growth on other fronts. I'm always looking for that inspirational story that makes me feel like "If they can do it, I can do it too" but I feel like theres a level of denial that maybe I dont have what it takes to do what others are able to do. Do I have it in me to MAKE time to work out on a regular basis? eat better, retrain myself to think about food differently? Is it in me to redo all of our bad habits from top to bottom? I know it's not going to be easy, but do I have it in me to fight for it? I dont know? I suffer from depression and often things seem too big for me to handle even if it is for the better. I want to be one of those inspirations to other people, and be able to tell them... If I can do it you can too. I think that would be an incredible feeling... I just dont know if I have it in me...

Check out Girl In Motions page. She is awesome. She is right, we all can do it! I am struggling with motivation as well. Let's start by losing a pound or two, I bet we will find some motivation then!

Oh my goodness, I know how you feel. I have watched others succeed but didn't think my turn would come. Since the start of the year, I have lost 28 kgs ( nearly 60 pounds I think) and I have the same thought about whether I do have a success story in me. Basically I worry whether I actually haven't lost any weight and my scale is broken! Rationally I know my thinking is silly but...
Go for small steps and be kind to yourself. You know ( it might be very deep down) that anything is possible and you do have the spark within you. Best wishes.

We spend so much time talking ourselves out of changing or being successful. Imagine what we could achieve if we used half of that energy to encourage ourselves. It's easy to feel like a failure, trust me I do all the time. But, the fact is we are already are a SUCCESS story. Any day we get out of bed, we continue to fight, and we don't give in to the way things are now, is a a successful day.

Try making it less about willpower and more about joy!

Find healthy foods that you LOVE so that you won't miss the fried ones!

Find activities that you desperately WANT to do, all the time! I hate "working out", but I love belly dancing, rock climbing, and walking. If you really love an activity, it's easier to work it into an already busy schedule. Don't worry about being a success story: instead, follow your joy to success!

You most definitely can be a Spark Success story !

Being successful isn't just about losing weight. There are many different ways to be successful that don't involve the scale. If you've never run a 5K and decide to train for one, completing your first 5K would be a success. If you have high blood pressure and it goes down, that's a success. If you were able to go off your diabetes medication just by watching what you ate and exercising, that too is an amazing success.

If you read the Spark success stories, you'll find lots of different members who succeeded in some way.

You can too !!! We all can be inspirational in our own small way.

I hear you. I would love to see "Sparkpeople Motivator" on my own page. Just keep working at it. We'll get there someday. The journey can be a long one though. It's not going to happen overnight. I have been here for a while now and def had my ups and downs. I'm not giving up though. Just keep plugging away!

Break up your goals into smaller not intimidating goals. As you succeed in achieving the small goals they will mount up and you will get to your larger goal. Yes you can do it! One step at a time. emoticon
