Looking for a bean recipe

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

I have a bag of pink beans...thought I grabbed pinto beans...OOPS

any who I am going to start soaking them to cook for tomorrow's dinner. I have a jar of sofrito (red not green), I have an onion, green peppers, and garlic. Is that all I need to cook good beans to go with tacos?

I have tried sooooo many recipes and I have failed. Any help would be great. I want to learn to make good or even great beans.

I like to use chicken boullion & red pepper flakes to your mentioned ingredients. (also red bell pepper, celery & carrots if you have them. Adds a bit of 'sweetness')

It's not healthy, but we always add pork fat, a slice of bacon or ham hock to our beans. The flavor just can't be beat. Also, we add a tsp of baking soda per cup of beans - it helps with flatulence! LOL

I've recently started making our beans in the crock pot, it adds alot of flavor as well. Throw everything in, cover with water and eight hours later you're good to go.
