Last weekend I went to Tampa for a little getaway. My boyfriend has an acquaintance who let us borrow his fancy house in a fancy neighborhood. We enjoyed the house, the pool, and all of the things to do in the area.
I saw a lot of signs that Tampa is a pretty fit town, though it isn't on the top 10 list of fittest cities. People were running and biking along Bayshore Boulevard, and I saw multiple large gyms across town. I even saw a Smart car wrapped in an ad for personal training.
However, very little of that had anything to do with me. On our last day there, I did walk through the neighborhood and along the water on Bayshore, but that was in an attempt to address my awful eating habits the previous 3 days. Ugh. Can I confess what I had?
Day 1 -- Lunch at Sonic (I had tater tots and a hot fudge sundae); dinner was at a fancy steakhouse. The place was amazing -- we shared a 17 oz. steak, and each had a salad, a loaded baked potato, onion rings (which were gluten-free!), carrots and a glass of wine. Woah.
Day 2 -- Lunch at a cafe. I ordered a Cubano sandwich on gluten-free bread. I should not have had more meat after the previous night's dinner. We went from lunch to the aquarium, where we ate a snack -- I had a Vitamin Water (liquid calories) and we shared a pre-made Hershey's sundae. After eating all of that, I threw up.
I kept it simple for dinner. We went to a Korean/Japanese place and I ate edamame, brown rice, and green tea.
Day 3 -- For lunch, we went to a Mexican place. I was only going to order beans and rice, but my boyfriend offered me one of his three tacos, so I had beans, rice and a taco. That was OK -- not too much, but also not needed. From there we took a tour of Big Cat Rescue, which is a sanctuary for wild animals that were once kept as pets. (It's a great place -- you should check it out if you're ever in the area!) After that, we stopped at Dairy Queen and I had a hot fudge sundae. (My third sundae of the trip, if you're keeping track!) We had pizza for dinner. There is a pizza place called Gourmet Pizza Co. that has the BEST gluten-free crust in the business! My boyfriend thought my GF crust was better than the gluten crust.
Day 4 -- For lunch we stayed in. We had soup, pepperoni, cheese and crackers. I definitely had too much. We were leaving that day, so we also had an early dinner -- we went back to the pizza place. We shared one pizza and a salad. I ate more of the pizza, he had more of the salad. And do I confess even more? When we got home, I made cookies.
It's a good thing I don't weigh myself. I wouldn't want to know the damage I've done.
Thanks for letting me confess.
