A&I Week 2 Gloomy Ghouls BSG Blog

This week we were asked to blog about the following question. "Now that colder weather is here do you find it more difficult to get your exercising in or do you find transitioning to more indoor exercising difficult to do?"

I use to walk/jog outside no matter what the weather; Iíve even jogged when it had snowed. When it rained, it made me feel like ROCKY! If Iím doing yard/garden work, I prefer it to be a little bit warm so I can sweat; although I have been forced, due to the urgency of getting something done, to do outside work in the heat of summer. When I do, I take several breaks, drink water and soak my head under cold water.

Now, though, my main source of exercise is indoors doing housework or an exercise DVD. I enjoy doing Power Yoga, TurboJam and ChaLEAN Extreme, although I havenít done any of these in quite a while.

So basically, if itís really hot I donít like to exercise outside unless itís early in the morning. In the spring and fall are the best times to take a walk around my neighborhood. I have a 2+ mile route that I take, and I enjoy breathing in the fresh air, listening to the birds and watching the squirrels, and enjoying the beauty of Godís creation.

    There is nothing like walking outside, there is something about it that just makes it so much better! Glad you have your DVDs tho I love mine. :D

    I agree with you about walking outdoors - especially spring and fall. My favorites are in the forest - it seems so peaceful. But when it gets cold I'll be joining you with the indoor dvd's. Thanks for listing the ones you use. I'll check them out to see if I can adapt them. Hope the weather allows you some extra outdoor time before winter comes. emoticon emoticon emoticon

    I love to walk outdoors too. Sometimes DH and I will drive into town and walk around the track rather than walk on the dirt roads out her. I love to garden too but haven't really done much since we moved here. I think most of us would prefer to exercise outdoors and breathe the fresh air and be surrounded by nature.

    Like you I love walking outdoors especially during the spring and fall - I love the fresh air and the sounds and sights of nature. I am a warm weather girl {spent most of my almost 60 years lifetime on a tropical island} so when it gets cold I tweak my indoor workouts to compensate for my outdoor walks. Speaking of which, this morning I found a bunch of You Tube Jessica Smith walking workouts ... a variety of different lengths, speeds and some even have toning options. whether we workout inside or outside, the important thing is that we keep up with our fitness plan and don't allow the change in temps to put us on the sidelines.

    I've been working out inside on the machines. I find that it helps me gauge my time better. I was trying to do a return to run program so I was able to be accurate with the minutes. It's also been a struggle for me to get back into the swing of things. It was easier for me to get to the gym downstairs than go outside. Now that I'm feeling better about it all, I wouldn't mind going outside but the cold weather is coming! YUCK!

I need to try some videos and see if that helps as well. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Thanks for the tips on the DVD's. I like to hear reviews from other members before spending $ on them.
