Just got home from the hospital. Laurie's surgery which was rescheduled from Sunday to today went better than expected. Because of an emergency her 2 o'clock surgery didn't get started until 5:30. Once it got started it went very well. The doctor said with confidence that they got 99% of the disease. He never uses 100% because you just don't know....but he is looking at a good recovery. They took out everything they said they would including a small section of her small intestine, which they sewed back together right away. Originally they thought it would be a temporary "bag" that would be needed, but that didn't happen. Originally they were going to put a portal going directly into her abdomen for an aggressive chemo treatment....that didn't happen either. She still will have some follow up chemo. They also removed her ovaries and tubes, which they knew they would be doing. So all in all the outcome is very good.
Thank you for all your prayers and ongoing support. The power of prayer is truly miraculous. We still have a ways to go, but with our support system in place we know we will get through this. I will rest a little bit easier tonight. Good night! ((HUGS))
