Rocky Mountain Weekend

Tuesday, October 15, 2013

Since we can't get to our mountain cabin in the Roosevelt Forest near Rocky Mountain National Park because of the road damage after the recent floods, we decided to take advantage of our governor's decision to pay for the opening of Rocky Mountain National Park.

We took the long roundabout route (2 hours) because our usual roads are still closed because of flood damage and drove to Rocky Mountain National Park.

We took our dog, Bucky, with us because he misses the mountains, too! He wasn't allowed to walk the trails with us so we just took him around some picnic areas.

On the way out we saw some elk.

We did take a 4 mile hike in Peaceful Valley before going into the park which didn't open until noon.

All in all...We had a great day!

Glad you were able to get out and enjoy this glorious autumn even though you weren't able to get to your cabin. Lucky for us we live in such a beautiful state with LOTS of alternatives!
