Dreading the Weigh In

Tuesday, October 15, 2013

Tomorrow is my weekly weigh in and I'm dreading it again! I'm thinking of "skipping it", but what good will that do?! Who is really going to know (or care) except me?! So weigh I will and just go from there. It's my gauge to keep myself "in check", although that hasn't been working too well lately.

I'm already 5 lbs. over goal and I don't think tomorrow will show any kind of loss. I just seem to be "out of control" with snacking! Going "low carb" usually works for me and curbs the sugar & carb cravings, but I just can't seem to stick with it!

I was just thinking as I was eating my lunch - if someone only saw what I eat for breakfast & lunch (during the week), they would think "man that chick sure eats healthy. I just finished up my tuna on a bed of lettuce with celery & pepper sticks and I still have my boiled egg & cheese stick for snack. I alternate between this lunch and a salad during the week.

I've done pretty well with dinners this past week. It's just the evenings and weekends! I had to buy the Halloween candy for the candy dish we have. After all, it's part of the "decorations". It's shaped like a spell book and a "witch" actually cackles and makes comments when you open the lid, but that didn't stop me from eating the candy!

My "week" started last Wednesday with an evening at the fair. It was really a nice evening and the only "fair food" I bought was Brunswick stew. My niece, sister, great nephew (GN), DD#2 & 2 friends and DD#3 and a friend all went. DD#2 & 3 took off as soon as we got there. My sister, niece, GN and I walked around and took in the "sights". He was too little to ride anything, so we just walked around, spent a lot of time in the petting zoo and played a couple of games with him.

DD#2 started basketball workouts on Thursday so DH and I ran at one of the trails before picking her up. She said she was a little "out of shape" since most of the girls have been doing weight training & conditioning for almost 2 weeks while she was finishing up volleyball. I had to take DD#1, 2 & 3 to Walmart after that for various "things".

On Friday DH, DD#2, friend and I ran at the indoor gym and played some basketball. I know I had some of DH's homemade pizza for dinner (using whole wheat dough, turkey and plenty of veggies). Very healthy, but I ate too much!

I spent most of Saturday running around kids and cleaning house. I dropped DD#2 off at a friend's house Saturday afternoon. They were running a Neon Dash 5K and then having a sleepover. I was going to run it too, but it was pretty far away and she really didn't want me to go!

Sunday DD#3 and I went to a pumpkin patch/petting zoo with my niece & GN. I got in some walking and carrying around GN, but I got a really bad headache later that day, so I pretty much lazed around on the couch the rest of Sunday.

I picked DD#2 up from conditioning yesterday and she still wanted to run & play basketball! She said they did a lot of sprints and only ran about 2 miles all together. She was really happy because one of the older girls wanted to run with her because she wanted to keep at her "pace" (DD#2 has really gotten pretty fast!). She was also excited because the track coach was watching them and wanted to know if she wanted to join track in the spring and do the long jump!? I don't think she's up to doing 3 high school sports!

Anyway, DH wanted us to wait on him, so he and I ran the hilly trail and DD#2 ran in the gym. DH was faster than me, so I met up with them in the gym (can't believe it's already starting to get dark by 6:30!). The were shooting baskets, so I ran another 1/2 mile on the indoor track and walked a couple of laps. I probably ran a total of 2.1 miles.

I'm going to try to get in some kind of exercise tonight. I have to take DD#1 to another college tour tomorrow. It's in downtown Atlanta and part of the tour is by bus, but I know we'll be doing a lot of walking.

So I'm really busy and I'm trying to get in my exercise. I'm going to work on some exercise goals and figure out what I'm going to do with the "eating". I know I need to track so I can really see what I'm eating. I just need to work up my "plan"!

Me & great nephew (and Oscar the Robot) at Fair and DD#2 at Neon Dash (2nd from right).

Can you revisit your "WHY" for maintaining?

Make a new vision collage about why you want to be in your happy range, long-term?

It doesn't have to be paper. You can collect images and make a slideshow on Flickr, or something.

Or write a list of all the things you love about being in your happy range and then post it where you'll see it frequently?

The main thing is to get back in touch with those feelings you have about wanting to be there.

For me, if my heart isn't in it, then my mind can use logic all day long, but in the end I don't stick to the plan...
