As I have said many times before, I have been at this since March of 2012. Never have I heard the term NSV or Non-Scale Victory, Until I joined SparkPeople. I have always been a scale junky! If the scale goes up, I get depressed. If the scale goes down, I am ecstatic! I realized last night that I have had several NSV's in the past year.
1st, back in March or April of this year, I cleaned out my closet & gave away ALL of my 26/28 size shirts & my 22/24's or 2x's are getting too big now.
2nd: In May, for my birthday, my mom took me bra shopping. I had to go down 2 sizes, not cup(still working on that) but I went from a 46 to a 42. I went again this last weekend & am down another 2 sizes! Now a 38 around!
3rd: Also, in May, on vacation, I went & bought 2 new pairs of jeans & a pair of capri pants. . Instead of squeezing into a size 20w, I bought 18 in jeans & 16 in capris. My size 18 pants slide right off without having to be unbuttoned or unzipped now. I really need to go get some new britches!!
4th: I also noticed on my vacation, while I was casting my fishing reel, I had to squeeze my hands tight, otherwise I was going to lose my wedding ring!! Also, My husband bought me a mothers ring about 8 years ago. It is supposed to go on my right ring finger, I have since had to move it to my middle finger.
5th: ALOT of folks at work have been asking for a good 6 months or so if I am losing weight & are encouraging me to keep up the good work!
6th: I bought a full length dress this summer. I have not worn a dress in years. To me, everything I picked out looked like I was wearing a tent, so I stuck to nice pant suits for weddings & funerals.
NSV's are awesome! So, even though the scale may or may not cooperate, there are so many other ways to measure weight loss success!! I hope others out there are taking advantage of these wonderful discoveries!! It's an amazing feeling!! I would love to hear some of your NSV's!!
