Indecision Over; I'm Gonna Do It!!

Tuesday, October 15, 2013

Hubby finally decided that we are NOT going to the Bahamas to see his alma mater (U of TN) play in a basketball tournament the weekend of November 24th. Honestly I am glad he made that decision even though I would have enjoyed the trip.

Now I am free to join ONEKIDSMOM at the St Pete Women's Half Marathon again this year! It just must be that I am suppose to. One of the women in my running group invited me to go with her, so that means I won't have to rent a car. (Hubby and I share one car.) She has a place for me to stay, too, so my only expense will be the entry fee and whatever I buy at the expo.

I expect to be sleeping on a sleeping bag on the floor and staying with a bunch of young people who may be loud. Who knows if I'll get any sleep the night before. But that's okay! I'll be running the inaugural Lakeland Half Marathon on November 9th for time. It's hilly so may not be conducive to PRs, but I still think I can beat my one HM time. Barb is running the Women's Half to support her cousin and she doesn't expect the pace to be too fast. Sounds good to me. I think we'll have a whole lot of fun!! I haven't registered yet, but plan to do it today.

(In case you've been following my weight stabilization efforts it's a darn good thing I didn't add calories yesterday when I weighed under my range. I was exactly at my goal weight of 126.0, up 2.2 pounds from yesterday, after a good eating day.)

Woo-hoo! Team Ladybugs! You will become an official "half lunatic" in the process (two half marathons inside a month = half lunatic)! I am one already, by virtue of the DHM... you'll join the ranks with these two races.

Wouldn't it be a trip if Monty came along in costume with us? (Sent him a Spark mail... hopefully my response to his dare to do the DHM will spur him to respond to mine to join us!)

One thought regarding your young roommates . . . ear plugs. They saved my marriage! They sell nice inexpensive ones at Walgreens. Just be sure you read the directions. I just shoved them in each night and they worked a little but not as good as I expected. One night, in a fit of boredom, I read the instructions. You twist them before inserting them into the ear. As they untwist inside the ear, they DO THE TRICK! Silencio, por favor!

That is awesome you get to go!! If these young women are serious about their running, they probably won't be into late night partying too much.. It will be great for you to be staying with your fellow runners, maybe getting tips about the course or discussions that might give you useful information.
Oh that ever fluctuating weight!! Could drive a person crazy, for sure!!
All the best with your training!

I've got the Blue Moon Half on Nov 3 and the TriRock Clearwater Triathlon on Nov 10. D is not planning on doing the WHM. I'm thinking about doing it. If so....who knows?
