Well today started out well ..
Carers came and sponge bathed Colin .. His arm is starting to heal .. Changed his bandages and settled him down in his new lift chair in the lounge room .. Then they left.
I went back to make his bed and decided to fill the bird bath just out side Colin's bedroom window .. Wasn't away more that 5 minutes ..
I went back into our house and noticed Colin wasn't in his lift chair .. I looked out the back and he had fallen ..
He had decided to go out and sit in the sun ..I checked that he wasn't hurt ..then put a pillow under his head and went next door to get my neighbour Greg to help get him on his feet ..
Greg happens to be the head of the ICU at our Local Hospital.
We were taking Colin back in side when Lois our Palliative care Nurse arrived. .
She immediately said to Colin that he must use the wheelie walker ..
No more using the walking stick ..
Also told him that he wasn't to move on his own ..
Colin wasn't happy .. He said he didn't like the wheelie walker ..
So Lois said if he didn't use it, she would make arrangements for him to be admitted to the palliative care ward at the hospital ..
This really made Colin think, and he agreed to her conditions ..
He is so used to being independent, that he has trouble accepting that he can't do these things anymore ..
I feel so sorry for him .. But really glad Lois told him straight ..
Will make it a lot easier for me to look after him ..
Consequently Colin spent most of today back in bed .. He was sore and sulking.
On a lighter note ..Stacey (our granddaughter) told her Poppa off when she called in on her way home from school ..
Was so funny hearing her tell him he needed to be good!
Am having a day off tomorrow ..
. Carers coming in all day,and I am off out with SunAssist .. Looking forward to a nice lunch and a play of the pokies .. Sending heaps of love to you all .. Susie
