Hubby retired for a second time. He has always been a partner in the kitchen and his talents are various. During the week we switch on and off for who is cooking. Sometimes we follow recipes. Often we just make it up.
We usually start with veggies. They are the cornerstone of most meals. We are not vegan or gluten free or anything special, but veggies just add so much delicious color and taste to any meals.
And although I do lots of experimentation with veggies, my talent for salads is weak. I prefer the chemistry of soups and main dishes. Hubby, however, rocks in the salad department. His dressings are spot on and always bring the entire melody of veggies sing.
Hubby has been experimenting with bagels. Home made bagels.. oh my! If you have not had fresh from the kitchen bagels, you gotta try them! We topped them with fresh from the garden tomatoes and a light cream cheese.
I recently decided to try cooking with polenta. I've not been a fan of the consistency of oatmeal polenta, but the firm slice-able polenta is a ton of fun to use. This meal was topped off with garden tomatoes and green beans.
Discovered a sumptuous new recipe for thai chicken soup. Easy to make and just gets better and better each day.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
“The only real stumbling block is fear of failure. In cooking you've got to have a what-the-hell attitude.”
