Too much Monday

Tuesday, October 15, 2013

Today my boss told me she "didn't want to overload the clerk." Funny, nobody ever said they don't want to overload me.

I still haven't reached ex, but I think I know what happened. He's a hoarder, and he has piles of stuff all over. I think he nudged one of the piles and hit the "ringer" button on his phone and turned it off (he HAS done this before). And he never installed the answering machine I bought him so I can't even leave a message to tell him what happened. The only question is, do I laugh at him or strangle him when this is over?

I've decided to enter the Halloween baking contest at the office. I'm making brain cookies with bloody ooze -- okay, hazelnut-sugar cookies with red powdered-sugar glaze. I'm a much better savory cook than pastry chef, so I'm totally not expecting to win.

I chilled out watching an old Iron Chef tonight, but Chef John Besh was on it, and he's always enjoyable to watch. Terrific cook, sweet Louisiana drawl, and I haven't even gotten to his looks yet!

I hope I sleep well tonight. I really could use it. I suppose I could dream Chef John makes beignets for me -- or we could skip the beignets...

Hope your cookies turned out good. Being from Louisiana I kinda like that Chef of yours, he's make anyone have good dreams.

Good luck with the contest! Your cookies sound like a winner to me. Can you post a picture of one? I'd love to see the final result.

Hi Mary, I hope your ex gets in touch with you very soon. You're probably right about the ringer or his phone being off the hook. I hope the rest of your week is great. And, I hope you win 1st Place for the fantastic tasty Halloween cookies you'll be making for your work's baking contest. Keep thinking positive and everything will fall into place. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I remember driving twenty miles to check on my Mom when I couldn't reach her by phone and the phone company told me the line was open, but nobody was talking on it. When I told her what they'd said, she calmly picked up the receiver, clicked the switch-hook, and held out the phone so I could hear the dial tone. "See," she said gleefully, "it's working fine." Urge to strangle! Yes! But ultimately, it's not worth it. Sigh!

Is there someone living closer to your ex who could check on Frank for you if this happens again? Some police departments will also do a wellness check to make sure the person is all right. Just a thought.

Laughter is good for you. In fact one minute of laughter gives you the same cardio effect as three minutes on a rowing machine....laugh, laugh, laugh.

As someone with an ex, my vote would be to laugh as you're choking him - lol. Hang in there and remember that you really no longer have to deal with his behaviors that get to you.

The Halloween baking contest sounds like fun! If you bake, please take a picture and share it with us.

Sorry your boss treated you like that (and this is coming from someone who's been "the clerk" for a looooooong time) - nobody deserves that kind of unfair treatment!

Good luck with your baking contest!
