Its getting cold out there! (53)

Monday, October 14, 2013

Ever cooked out in the winter? (Ok, ok, its not *quite* winter yet, but its getting here!)
While grilled food IS better for you than the heavier fare that we usually indulge in during the cold months, that isn't really why I suggest it.

It's awesome, lol! Not so much the standing out in the cold part, but the shock to your senses part! You would be surprised how much you might associate grilled food only with summertime. It's a good surprise for your tastebuds too!
I also get an emotional kick out of eating grilled foods in the wintertime too. It makes me think of warm weather and lots of sunshine.

Don't get me wrong, I love stews, bread, and chili in the winter (and am constantly working to make them healthier), but a couple of good grill-outs in the winter breaks up the monotony....and the calories!

Nah, you're not hard core enough.
I once had an ice-cream, and it was like -15 C or 5 F.
It was weird, but interesting:)

OMGWTFBBQ!!!! makes my day. hahahaha. OLD SCHOOL!

We are still deciding what to do with our grill... we don't get as much snow in NJ as I grew up with in OH, but every other year or so we get these giant Bury Everyone storms. Now that we have a yard/driveway/garage/grill we don't know what to do with ourselves! Kind of want to protect the grill from the elements (garage) but also want it accessible to grill on if it's not buried in snow! DILEMMA!

It's a good problem to have though. We love our house sooooooooooooo much. :D

When I lived with my dad we grilled ALL YEAR, he'd just pull the grill up to the back door and we'd grill even in the snow emoticon

We have an old refurbished grill but I don't like to grill and hubby doesn't either. He won't get rid of it, but we used it once this summer. You see, because up on this hill, it is usually very very windy, so grilling isn't much fun. In town, it was more doable. Now mostly the cats sit on it, so it is a cat stand.

One year, my dad roasted the Thanksgiving turkey in his gas grill because the power went out. It saved the day!
