SparkPeople vs. MyFitness Pal- My Opinion

Monday, October 14, 2013

I guess to each his own because I couldn't get into Myfitness pal. A few months ago I had a trainer that insisted I join his group on Myfitness so he could help monitor My tracks. And I didn't find it easy to navigate. Nor was the interface as nice.

I was trying to get away from prepared food so the barcode scanner wasn't helpful and creating recipes then breaking them into portions was extreamly difficult.

As far as the support. I am a huge blogger. And I didn't like that I couldn't video blog. I could only post links to my YouTube posts.

I've also found that the people I communicate with on spark are more realistic and there are way more groups I can relate to.

Last I prefer spark people because of the peer review. Last week I was planning to try a diet supplement called ACE and I quickly jumped on Spark People and Read the peer review. When I looked at a few comments about ACE on my fitness, I got the impression half of them were distributors.

Ohhhh I had even considered corset training and sure nuff there were peer reviews on spark and nothing on myfitness pal.

I didn't mean to rant but I love the motivation I get when I'm on sparkpeople vs. Myfitness Pal. emoticon

Thanks for the review. Once I found SP I found a group of people who are supportive, motivating and encouraging no matter where you are in this journey! Also, as others have said you have to find what works for you and SP works great for me on this journey!!

Wow I am absolutely shocked art how many people actually commented on this post. I posted that because I was reading comments I'm another post on sparkpeople And one of the members was very passionate about leaving spark for MyFitness Pal.

And I thought seriously. I need to support and motivation not just the tracking

I agree I've used myfitnesspal but it's a hit or miss with support. Unless you're connected to everybody in the world - you may only find a few people that actually stay connected on a regular basis. Here on Spark you can always find support, get an answer to questions and get some feedback quickly. The meals looks great too, nice photos...

I tried MyFitness before moving to Spark. It seemed very... high school to me. There was even one woman who posted that she felt that people were being overly negative and got made fun of for it so now I stick to Sparkpeople. I don't always agree with everyone on here, but there seems to be a more understanding attitude here.

You have to work "your program" and find what works for you. Seems like you have found the right road to your weight loss journey. emoticon
