Good afternoon everyone! Hope your breezing through your Monday. It has been a busy one for me. Working and gathering pics from Saturday's 5k.
Speaking of Saturday's 5k, it was AWESOME! First of all it didn't start off that way, I normally wake up around 5:30 ish to get prepped and stretched before my races. We didn't wake up until 7:10. The race started early at our house, LOL. Jayleigh was supposed to run the 50 yrd dash. By the time we arrived they already did that, so she ran the 1/4 mile instead. Thats what she gets for getting up late, ROFL. She did GREAT! She finished her 1/4 run and received her SUPER HERO medal, WOOHOOO! We are so proud of her.
Now its time for daddy's race. This was an important race for me. This is my 4yr Anniversary of running. This was my very first 5k that I won 1st in my age group in 2009 and my time was 23:19. I haven't regain that title since. I wasn't too worried about not doing my stretching before hand since I took most of the week to stretch, relax, and focus, on the race. The race started on-time and I couldn't get my ipod nano to start. It took me at least 3 to 4 min to finally get it to start. I had to have my music to keep me focused. Finally got it going and it was time to settle my heart rate down and focus on the race. During my training I have been breathing through my nostrils most of the run and doing good. I still haven't been able to do that for race day yet. 23minutes and 08 seconds later I finished. I had thought for sure I had 1st place but there was another guy that finished at 21:11 I believe. 2nd place and I surpassed my PR in 2009 finally
I was 32nd out of 247. It was a good race. I have 2 more 5k's to run this year then its time to move on to 1/2 marathons next year.
HUGE shout out goes to my family for ALL of their support during my training and on my races. This race also brought back wonderful memories for my wife and I as she was pregnant with Jayleigh on that first race
Also, thank you SPARK FRIENDS for your support!
