Video killed the radio star!

Well if you liked the title of this blog then you are probably an 80's fan like me and this helped me do the most workouts I've ever done in one day yesterday. After not feeling that up to it early a.m. I took to the treadmill and my strength training with new vigour!

I have not exercised to music in the past 4 weeks as generally I'd rather peace and quite than noise and sometimes I have the TV on instead, but yesterday I thought I really need some sort of music to pump me up and get me in the mood for this. So I searched the internet for free stuff which led me to U Tube where there was a massive selection of 'workout / fitness / aerobic' music to select from. I must have spent 1/2 hour going through some and they were all that techno, pump, hip hop, beat up, tribal, beat box type music which I'm not fussed on at all. A lot of it was even in another language which didn't help matters. I just wanted to listen to good old fashioned music that I love so I searched for '80's workout music' and boy did I find what I wanted!

Lots to select from and I settled on a compilation of 100 x 80's songs with the original film clips as well and each workout I did I went from the last song that I'd played and when I get through the 100 songs I'll start again! There was an advertisement here and there at the start of some songs but that's ok and several songs had been deleted due to copyright laws but the rest were there - what a hoot! One can't have everything all of the time !

So with that done, I now have another motivator to exercise and yesterday (after a slow start) I did the most exercise I have done in one day. Here are my sessions.

Treadmill cardio - 1.6km - 24 mins
Treadmill cardio - 1.78 km - 24 mins
Treadmill cardio - 1.78 km - 24 mins
Strength training - 15 mins

Last night, after dinner, I decided to have stewed apples - I have never cooked this before so looked up the recipe on the internet and it said water, sugar, apples. So I used water and apples only and it was delicious and sweet just like a desert. I ate it with plain yogurt - YUM! (Note - I used the very sweet pink lady apples)

    Love SOME of the 80s music, it's just the big hairstyles and shoulder pads I can't stomach!

    Gosh, those fleshy, succulent apples pi├Ęces in the photo are certainly getting my juices flowing this morning, Not gonna lie, I salivate like mad whenever I view your mouth-watering pics. You're setting the bar very high with your yummy wonders.

    Yeah, music is magic! Gets all those endorphins flowing. When I did a lot of roller-skating in my 30s, I used to love playing Stevie Wonder over and over to galvanise myself into action.

    I must admit though, just reading through your exercise sessions has worn me out, heehee! Better you than me! Bravo, you're gonna be losing another 5kgs before you know it! Well done! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Wow! it is great that you found a selection of 100 80's songs to work out to, that must have been what I was hearing yesterday, my that was loud!

    If you do the routine often enough; every time you hear the music you'll find yourself involuntarily bopping about lol!

    love the 80's music. You did great with the exercising with the music. Don't forget you can also dance to this and this is moving all of your body.

    Love your desert .. You can also some cinnamon to the apples.

    Not to much to make it a chore, but enough to enjoy..

    Wow congratulation on all of the workout you did. I love 80's music to workout to.
    Very inspiring blog I find. I love seeing how others do in with their training, it sometimes gives great ideas and often gives a boost :-)

    That dessert looks yummy!!!

    I sometimes dance around to music - my iPod has everything from Beatles and Dylan up to Green Day and Coldplay! I usually set it to shuffle, and just listen to whatever shows up.
