"met with (on the phone) my health coach this morning. One of our goals from last week was to keep a food diary, I used the sparkpeople one- I overeat everyday. I love food, I love eating food, I struggle to be a person who eats only to fuel. I have no self control AT ALL if there is food available. Last week Friday my coworker brought in a dozen cookies for 8 people, I ate 2. I ate yesterday, when I wasn't hungry :( No exercise last week, to speak of, nothing structured anyway. Planning on going to the Y tomorrow after work and I will be traveling this week so Thur and Fri I will get up early (but much later than I normally get up) and go on the treadmill or elliptical. even with eating like crap (went out to eat 4 times last week) and not exercising my weight was down 1 lb. I think the journaling makes some difference. Who knows maybe I would have ate a 3rd cookie if I didn't have to write it down :)

Tracking food really helps me and I am like you in that I will eat all the time. It also helps if I eat by the clock. I read a lot about mindfulness so you eat when you are hungry and stop when you are full. I am not sure I will ever achieve that but timely eating and, especially, tracking work for me. Do what you need to do for yourself!!

I know that logging my food really keeps me more aware of what I am eating and helps me to make choices based more on nutrition than on my emotional hunger. This is a struggle since we can't just ban food from our lives...why would we? it is truly one of the joys of life...but eating mindfully is something we can learn to do. Keep working at it and congrats on losing the pound.

Glad this is working! This site makes up own up to our behaviors and watch what we are doing wrong. You can also do a hunger diary which logs your level of hunger at the time you eat to help you change you eating behavior. The article is in the SP wellness section and gives you the official levels of hunger to track. This really can make a world of difference in how and when we eat.

You can do it! The food tracker is a great tool that I need to start using again.
