What a DAY!!

Monday, October 14, 2013

Had a lot of fun yesterday, met my new neighbors (until the end of the month--long story!). Brandon is in his late thirties (guessing) and we both like to read--the same genres, a lot of the same authors, and even the same books!-- and his fiancée, Andrea? She's like a 40 yr old version of ME! LOL We don't look anything alike--she's Italian, the olive skin and dark hair and flashing eyes and THIN--but we both talk a mile a minute and have SO much in common...

The glass top on Amigo's shelter cracked from the cold, and the glass separated from the frame, so I had to find something to cover the shelter to protect the surface from moisture--and I took Andrea with me to the GoodWill Outlet. They sell the smaller stuff by the pound! I actually found a pop-up tent! I'll cut the bottom up to make a moisture proof tie-on slip cover for the shelter... I also found a pair of khaki mid-calf jeans (in MY size, not an easy thing to do ANYWHERE! lol) PLUS, a bright red, floor length T-SHIRT with a 4" sequined American flag on the front! How fun for lounging around in the evenings, y'know?
Funny, she had so much fun too--and she bought a whole cart full of clothes and housewares! LOL

Then, after I got back and had eaten my afternoon snack, I got a text about one of the 70's coffee tables I'd inquired about from Craigslist... the estate sale was over and it was still available, and could I meet the man in an hour? Whew!
I asked Andrea and Brandon if they could help me load it... and when we got there, the man refused my money--and said there were a few things he was keeping, but anything else we wanted in the house, we could take. The sale of the house was closing on Tuesday, and the disposal of anything left in the house would then be up to the buyer. My neighbors were so excited--they literally have nothing, they didn't even have pillows on their bed--til last night! LOL And I found the table top easel that I've been looking for, for the last three years, and didn't have to pay a cent for it!

It was more fun...of course, with that big coffee table (AND the matching side table! A back-up for Amigo's shelter if I decide I don't need it! LOL) there wasn't much room left in the van. We didn't hit the upstairs, there are a lot of blankets, bedding, etc., but we're going back today as soon as the owner lets me know when he can be there--Andrea and Brandon are putting gas in my van so we can make the trip.

Needless to say, after all the activity yesterday, I was totally exhausted and in a LOT of pain last night... I'm glad I had made a big pot of chicken soup, so all I had to do for dinner was heat it, eat it, and take my pain meds--and thinking back over the day, I went to sleep laughing to myself!

Woke up with my hand hurting though... so took an extra quarter dose this morning. It's going to be another long but fun day... I'll have to be careful I don't overwork my hands. That's the hardest part...

Got to go eat breakfast and feed a few furbabies...

Be well!...

Sure hope you hand has healed and isn't giving you any more problems. Did you neighbors get to stay or did they move? They sounds like great people!

I'm glad that things worked out for you. Amazing how many things are available for free and I think that's the right thing. Lots of people in need. I would be surprised if the new owners need everything anyways. Hang in there with your hand. The day you have no pain you probably won't even notice, lol.

    Just a post-script:
When we had barely got there the second time, I got a text from the owner... his sister, the executrix, told him not to give anything else away, as the contents of the house were now the property of the buyers... disappointing, and some of my passengers decided they would find their own way home, wanting to walk their disappointment off by going down to Point Defiance where the zoo is...so the rest of us had a nice sunset drive down by the waterfront on our way home...

It all works out, doesn't it?...

    I still have my lovely--and useful--coffee table!
I'll put padding on the top, and it's more seating for me or my guests...
