What has four wheels and discovered America?
Where in the U.S. was the first monument to Christopher Columbus erected?
In Baltimore, Maryland, in 1792, on the 300th anniversary of his historic voyage. Originally on the private estate of the French consul, the 44˝-foot-tall white obelisk now stands in Herring Run Park in northeast Baltimore.
Not only is today Columbus Day, it is also Bald and Free Day. Hug someone bald! I know I will - my husband!
On Bewitched, Dick York played Darrin Stephens, the befuddled mortal husband of witch Samantha. Throughout the series, York was in constant pain due to a back injury sustained during the filming of a 1959 western. By 1968, he could barely move; after he collapsed on the set and was rushed to a hospital in 1969, York quit the show. Rather than write Darrin out, Bewitched producers brought in a new actor to portray him. They went with Dick Sargent, who had been the original choice for the part in 1964, but had been unavailable. Darrin’s new appearance was never explained (not even as “magic”) and Sargent stayed with Bewitched until the end of its run.
(I have always and will always be a fan of Dick York - he was and always will be Darrin Stephens to me!)
Only Charlie’s Angel never to be shown in a bathing suit: Kate Jackson.
