Getting ready for birthdays.
Sunday, October 13, 2013
I have a couple of birthdays coming up soon. My husband will be 40 on Friday and my daughter will be 9 on Thanksgiving.
We always do something special on birthdays, my husband will be getting mint cheesecake and roast for his birthday and my daughter will be having her first friend party this year. I'm amazed at how much planning had to happen to have a party, even if it's going to be at our home.
My daughter requested pink and purple for her party, so that makes it a little easier than having to do some "Disney Princess" party or other theme brought on by tv shows. I can go a little crazier with just pink and purple. I ended up at WalMart this morning because the party stores did not have anything that I liked, Target just does not carry half the things I need and I didn't want to run around to find things. I probably can hit up one of the craft stores if I still need something, but I think I have much of what I need since I always make their cakes myself. We just need to get the invites written up and sent out, I have a couple more weeks to get them out to have the party two weeks before her actual birthday, I hate holiday birthdays (my son's falls a week after independence day).
It's nice to be most of the way done with it and I don't plan on traditional gift bags for the kids (who really wants cheap crap from the dollar section?) and am planning on some stuff for them to do that they can bring home instead.
This also means I'll have to really get around to deep cleaning my home this month, which I've been wanting to do anyhow. We pulled up the couch cushions today, looks like we need to vacuum n there. I'm not really comfortable having people over yet, but if I manage to clean well enough I might be more comfortable if I can scrub a few things up. Just think of the calories I'll burn scrubbing my floors.
I'm also amazed at how full my Sundays can get just from weekly shopping. It's great to get out to the stores during church, they're fairly empty at that time, plus during the football game the stores are empty, so I had plenty of leisurely shopping today. I'm glad I was able to find one of the things she wanted on sale today, $5 saved! I'm hoping to get the one other thing on sale before her birthday too.
Today's Holidays: International Skeptics Day, Clergy & Pastor Appreciation Day, The US Navy celebrates it's birthday 1775, Agent Fox Mulder's Birthday, Silly Sayings Day and National Yorkshire Pudding Day.
