Day #4...

Sunday, October 13, 2013

Yesterday didn't go so great when it came to the nutrition....husband wanted to go up to Sydney to look at a car and I was rushed, so just grabbed a bowl of Just Right cereal. (That's only bad because of all the wheat) Then we ended up at a Mcdonalds for an early snack and I had pancakes. Again, only really bad because of the wheat.

We are having car insanity troubles. My dear husband has tried to do things as inexpensively as possible, bless him. Well, first car got stolen then developed a solenoid problem. So we gave that to my sons' friend - which was a win-win situation as it enabled him to get his first job. :) Points scored there! The second car my husband bought on the cheap looked like it was going really well...then it developed a leaking radiator hose. Went downhill real quick when husband tried to fix it, then took it to his mechanic who merely put some of that sealant in it. Evidently it riled up the rust and sediment because it began overheating and boiling over. Husband beside himself because he absolutely HATES working on cars. I tried not to stress out because we really need it to get my son to his 4am baking job. Taxis are very expensive and it would have meant 16$ each day.

So he spied an automatic Terios up in Sydney and we went to check it out. Auction house wasn't honest in the ad and the price quoted was the "buy at auction" price, not the "buy it now". And it was rough around the edges. So we walked away from that.

I asked the hubs if he thought the old car would be driveable just in the morning, and how much less stressed I'd feel about the whole situation if I could just use it for that one quick trip. Must've said the magic word because when we got back to town he stopped and picked up a couple things at the auto store and got the car running again. So the kid doesn't have to pay 16$ a day now...well, hopefully. We're keeping our fingers crossed. I can get anywhere else I need to go on the bus or on foot.

Cars are the absolute pits. Even brand spanking new they can have problems. I have to drive almost 100 miles to get to work and back, so I really depend on the car. Hope you get yours sorted out!!

I would like to point out that the friend we gave the old gray car to knows about all it's troubles. We didn't just give it and tell him it was perfect. :)
