Winding Down the Weekend

It's a beautiful day in the Chicago area. I'm watching coverage of the finish line at the Chicago marathon. People limping, teary, hugging, high fiving, smiling... what an amazing accomplishment!

I've had a good weekend. despite being stuck at home due to being on call. It's the first weekend in a while I had nowhere to be so I'm loving it.

I came home from work Friday later than I had planned and drained. I was so ready for the couch and the remote. BUT, I had updated my SP status earlier in the day that I would do the elliptical and the SP 28 Day Bootcamp 30 Minute Total Body workout.

I post, therefor I do. I took the dog for her walk first since the sun was about to set. I set my HIIT timer app for 20 minutes of interval training on the elliptical. Then I popped in the SP DVD. It's hard and it's AWESOME! It felt REALLY good not to have been as lazy as I felt!

Saturday I took it easy. That bootcamp DVD kicks my butt... and my arms and the backs of my thighs and my abs! I took the dog for her two walks and did the SP 20 minute yogalates video. After dinner, I decorated the house for Halloween.

Today..... I ......... ran....... SIX MILES. I didn't stop for a breather at 2 miles then stop again a half a mile later like I usually do. Earlier in the week, I decided to challenge myself to see how far I could run, slowly, without stopping. I made it four miles.

So today I gave myself the same challenge. It is a BEAUTIFUL fall day here in the Chicago area. The sun is shining, the trees are bursting with color, some leaves are on the ground and I knew, about 30 miles from me, people were running the race of their lives.

I ran slow and steady. I felt good, I looked at the different trees, I looked at kids playing, I purposely ran through bunches of crunchy leaves on the ground. I just thoroughly enjoyed being outside.

I really have to give credit to SP and Coach Nicole for an EXCELLENT workout DVD. My legs felt strong today. All of the strength training I've been doing has really helped my endurance. Woman does not run by running alone.

I've showered, had a green smoothie and an English muffin with peanut butter now it's time to veg a little. I'm going to give another go at meditating while DH is out. Thanks to Spark member CATINCJ for turning me on to It's really helping me!

No matter how the rest of the day goes.... this day was GOOOOOOOD!
