I am sick of this floor process! Give me back my normal condo--soon!

Sunday, October 13, 2013

Doing our floors is really 'getting to me!' It is about the 6th day into this process. I have DH to care for ( and the cat) through all this and it is difficult with our furniture and things we need spread all over kingdome come. I am continually looking for things. We have tried to keep the things we need handy but it is just not happening. I could not find the ringing phone for a night and a morning, for instance.

The windows need to be open (with the heat on!) to help the drying process and to get out the fumes. Some rooms have doors to close --that helps.

DH fell out of his chair yesterday morning when the aide was transferring him. She used the lift but somehow he slipped out of the chair. I called 911 and 6 workers came to our aide! Wow!

Then later in the day, DH yelled to me because he broke off the whole control arm from the wheelchair! He was stuck sideways in the narrow hall. I was overwhelmed at that point . I left him to figure it out! He did!!!!! He was actually holding the control arm and moving the chair to a better place! He did it!!! Later the guy who is doing the floors came. He used to be John's aide and he is a very capable, strong and patient person. He taped the control arm to the chair till Monday and we can get it fixed properly. I already called the chair people and left a message.

I am sick of this floor process! I want my house back the way it was

The process will be over soon, even if it doesn't seem soon enough. It's not surprising that you're overwhelmed - you have a lot going on. Though it is really good that you told your husband to figure it out himself and he did; that shows he's capable of more than he is willing to believe sometimes. That's a positive.

You are closest to the end than before. Besides, either you want it or not, this will pass.

One day at a time is a lot. What about one hour at a time? emoticon emoticon

I hope the process ends soon for you and DH. It is really hard to live among turmoil. I am planning a kitchen remodel and am already dreading packing away all the food/dishes/pots/pans, and living off take out and ready-to-eat for a few weeks. But you have the additional issue of a disabled spouse. Oh well -- the end result with your refinished floors -- and improving your home for resale -- will be worth it!

Hope all comes together for you soon. I know it is frustrating dealing with the disorganization but, hopefully, it will be worth it in the long run. emoticon emoticon Enjoy your new floors!
