A Super Organized Ride
Sunday, October 13, 2013
For the 7th time, I ventured north to Round Rick, Texas, on Friday to take part in the yearly "Outlaw Trails" organized bike ride. Not only do I get to do a super ride, but I also get to spend the night with my son and his wonderful gang. As part of your entry fee, there is an evening spaghetti dinner that is enjoyed with other bikers. I normally just pick out someone who's eating by themselves. This time it was a wonderful lady who turned out to be an airline pilot. We were joined by two couples and had a great time exchanging bike stories. Afterwards, I headed to my son's where I had a good time with my 9-year old granddaughter playing Legos. Woke up early the following morning and headed for the ride start. There was a 50% chance of rain so, I decided on the 100K VS the 100 miler. As it turned out, there was no rain, but plenty of headwind. I averaged a bit over 18MPH for the 1st half and 13MPH for the second half. Overall, a well marked/organized ride. Afterwards, I treated the gang for lunch. Stuck around until early evening and headed to the softball field to watch granddaughter play. Has a great time enjoying watching her attempt at hitting that ball. Afterwards, headed home and arrived at just about midnight. Well worth the drive. HOOAAA!!
