I haven't been to Oly class in a couple weeks, but I'm SO GLAD I went this morning!
We started out with snatch balances. If you aren't familiar, a snatch balance is when you start with the bar on your back, dip and drive, lock it out overhead in a partial squat, and ride it down and stand back up. Our coaches' friend Charles, who just happens to be a 2012 OLYMPIAN was there and gave me a lot of pointers. I ended up getting up to 103#.
Next up we did 3 sets of 1 snatch pull + 2 snatches from below the knee, then 3 sets of 1 snatch pull + 1 snatch from below the knee. I recently snatch PRed and I thought it was at 93#. After I did 88# with no problem, I started entering everything we were doing into the app on my phone I use to keep track of stuff. It was then that I realized my PR was 83, not 93, and I had just PRed without even knowing it. I told the girls I was lifting with and they told me 88 had looked super easy and I should definitely try 93, so I did, and bam! No problem! Last month it took me 4 tries to get 83!
We finished off class with snatch pull downs, which is where you do a snatch pull and then go back down very slowly (6 seconds). It is for both strength and drilling the correct positions. we did 5 sets of 2 from 93-113#.
So glad I went today! The Farmer's market can wait until tomorrow!
