I have had a crazy month.
First of all, as I think I have mentioned before, we had a flood at the beginning of August. It was 2 months till they fixed the damage. It was finally done the first week of October. During the last few days when they were replacing the flooring, we stayed in a hotel. Our lives were very displaced. Now that we are back in the house, we still haven't figured out where everything is/was.
Second of all, I am a furloughed government employee. I hate it. There is nothing good about being "non-essential." The first week I was furloughed was so strange, I couldn't go home (because of the work crews), couldn't go to work, I literally was just sitting at starbucks all day. If I had known I was going to be furloughed, maybe I would have kept out my gym clothes and spent some of that time at yoga, but those were all packed up with the rest of our stuff.
Third, I just got a book yesterday called the Vegucation of Robin about Robin Quivers becoming vegan, complete with recipes. I have been tearing through it. I started asking myself, could I be vegan? I spent 18 years of my life as a vegetarian (from 19-37) so eating meat is a relatively new thing to my diet. Is it healthy? Am I healthier now than I was 3 years ago? I don't know. I don't think i could label myself as vegan or completely give up eating meat, but I do think I could make more healthy choices and most my diet to more plant based. One of the reasons I bought this book is because of the delicious sounding recipes in the back. I am from the south so most of the veggies I am used to are over cooked, deep fried, served with bacon and ranch dressing. I will let you know if I find any that i like.
Hello again. I have been back and tracking. I have been taking my dog for a walk every night. I am dipping my toe in slowly. I haven't been writing blog entries because I hate my husband's laptop with a passion. (I usually use my work laptop, a Mac, to update here. It has to stay off during government shutdown.)
