About a month and half away from my one year past goal. Think on things that have been helpful and not so helpful.
Not so helpful.
1) being on a diet. I mean saying to myself right now I am on a diet later I won't be. Just leads to quick or eventual regaining of weight. Instead - what changes can I make that I can live with forever. Even if it is just one change, it makes a difference.
2) extreme diet to the point of asceticism. For me this is the lower calorie, super low. Nothing I like to eat. I cannot sustain it. It fails ever single time. Instead - eating the food I like in moderation. Eating food I like occasionally as a reward, but not glutting myself. Choosing what food is "worth" the calories. I have become much more choosy about my desserts.
3) Pushing too hard in fitness. I have done this multiple times. I say I used to _____. And I go and push it. Maybe it starts out fine, but usually end up injured. Instead - I try to build slow. With running using the 10% build per week in distance. And giving myself slow runs to recover from the fast ones.
I am still learning. I still struggle, but have been much more content after learning ways I sabotage myself... (but I still had to fall on my @$$ first).
