Yesterday around 5pm I had a strong urge to have an alcoholic drink - my internal clock ticked in and said "Ding Dong it's Friday night, where's the wine??! Why is there no wine entering my system??! Bring on the wine !!"
I ignored it and went and watered the garden to take my mind off it and that worked! I'd forgotten about it until I got back and read a blog from an SP friend who is also abstaining from drinking for the month of October. IAM146POUNDS was also blogging about making a mocktail that night and that helped me to finish the night with NO WINE ! Yippee.
Instead I changed my routine and grazed like a cow - 520 calories later, I had consumed almonds, rockmelon, yogurt, grapes and two hard boiled eggs (to try and get that protein figure up!). So long as I had my elbow in the air and that 'hand to mouth' action I was alright - I tricked my mind into thinking it was getting its Friday night fix.
I still haven't had any coffee and I'm no longer missing that like I was. I am also still having my two smoothies a day (unless I am out and unable to) and I am still doing the stress buster challenge. So everything is on track to becoming healthier.
SP people give me so much strength to forge on with this journey and no one can ever tell me they can't find motivation because SP is brimming with it at every turn so that can never be an excuse!
I have crawled all over my fitness program and developed a concept which I'll follow. It just turns out today is a REST day !! LOL I planned that well. My intent is to do strength training 3 days/week and aerobic training 5 days/week. I will do my strength training by working through the SP videos - if I find something I like I'll save it to favourites and do it more often. I'll work on approximately 20 minutes per day which are likely to consist of two 10 minute sessions. I did the two strength training videos for a 2nd time and actually enjoyed them more this time - I knew what to expect and I loved the feeling of the stretch parts as I don't normally stretch and boy, that felt good! I still forgot to breathe but the video kept reminding me so that was good!
I am still planning and plotting and preparing in that kitchen on a daily basis - weighing and measuring and counting calories everywhere I go. I don't know how I will manage this time-wise when I go back to work but I'll think about that then. I have excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills and I'm always at the ready to design and trial a new strategy, so I know I'll be fine. Hectic but fine!
I blogged this week about how incredible food is - colours, textures, tones, tastes, shapes etc. Well there is a photo of exactly that concept. The colours here are out of this world - how could you resist eating vegetables - the colours alone draw me to them! From time to time I make up a plate of baked veggies and then snack on them over 2 days. I get cravings for baked beetroot and that sets these wheels in motion. Here we have beetroot, carrot, sweet potato, eggplant and parsnips.
It is almost 5am here now on Saturday morning. Thanks for all your continued support - enjoy the rest of you day/night and stay healthy and don't forget to stick to the challenges you have set yourself no matter what!
