I had been putting off keeping the kids at home this week, even though they obviously have colds. Yep, I'm sure some other parents will be mad that I'm sending my kids to school with colds, but seriously, it can't be helped, it's just a head cold. On the other hand the school hates it when they miss class, so what am I to do?
I kept my son home today. He's my asthmatic, so when he gets colds, many of them settle in his chest and that's what it's been doing this week. I probably should have kept him home yesterday, but he hadn't peaked a high enough temperature until last night, so I sent him yesterday too.
I hate this parenting dilemma, but I think I'm getting the hang of when to keep my kids home.
Since I decided last night to keep him home today, I let him leave his alarm off. He must have really needed the sleep because he didn't get up until 10:30 when we're normally up at 7:45. He seems better, but the coughing is still pretty bad. I'm glad we have the weekend to heal him better.
Sick kids don't help the parents though. Neither my husband nor I have slept well all week. It also doesn't help that my husband has been doing overtime all week long, which tends to make him go in early and come home late, making him tired. We're looking forward to the one day off this week, I'm not sure if I'm going to clean mom's house on Saturday or Sunday at this rate. So far I'm not sick, so I can still go over and do that, but I'm not sure if I'm a carrier for this germ and my parents do not need the extra illnesses, the older you get the harder it goes through your body.
No, I haven't done my exercises yet, but they will be done by the end of the day. My husband will make sure of that, although I may not be able to do the stair exercise today, that requires leaving the apartment and finding a stair.
I'm ready for a nap...
