It's been a busy couple of weeks, but that is my life and therefore it is not a valid excuse. I have been taking it easy this week because my foot and hip are still a little sore from the race, and I haven't really taken the time to stretch it all out. I know, I know.
So next weekend is the Indy show, and my schedule is NUTS all week. On Tuesday I'm out of town in St. Louis all day, and then we leave for Indy Friday morning. Monday I have about 3 hours of mystery shopping jobs to do, and somehow I have to find time to figure out what to pack, and what to pack for Little Bear, who will be joining me for this show. :)
I got the go-ahead from my coach on Wednesday to start working on the two pieces from Chicago, so I have a lovely Um Kalsoum number and a sassy Saidi dance that I'm uber-excited about getting ready for performance. I have no idea when the next one will be -- maybe January? I haven't even GLANCED at the calendar for 2014 yet, except to note some races. I know I'm dancing in Indy in January and April, and we have a small show here in April. I don't know what the schedule looks like for Chicago yet. I'm supposed to do some training in Dallas next year, but that may end up being in the fall. A lot depends upon my financial situation. Which is nearly always bleak, so I don't often base my hopes around it - LOL.
So the lazy -- yeah, I've gotten it pretty bad lately. I haven't made fitness a priority AT ALL. Between dance practice and races, I haven't really done ANY other cardio, and I abandoned my streak of doing yoga and strength training. BAD Amanda!!! BAD!!! I haven't been on the scale either, so I'm worried I've gained a pound or two, even though I have actually been eating rather healthy -- just in larger quantities than I should.
Dad surprised me with a BICYCLE yesterday, for my birthday! Yippee! Of course it's starting to get yucky out, so it's not the perfect bicycle weather, but I'm thinking I'll just stock up on some cold weather workout clothes and alternate between jogging and bicycling, once I get back from Indy.
I don't usually do the "I'll start this on Monday" kind of thing, but because of this crazy schedule, I really am delaying starting a new project until this show is over. I'm a featured soloist in this show, and I can't afford to have my focus anywhere else but on the performance. But quite literally, AS SOON as we get back in town on Monday night, after Kindermusik, I'm doing SOME kind of intense workout. Maybe Tae-Bo. It's starting to get into cold weather, and Tae-Bo always feels good on cold bones.
I'm still resting on my laurels from the Half Marathon, and YES I'M ADDICTED!!!! I can't wait to do another one. There is a 5K trail race this weekend, but as much as I hate to, I'm going to skip it so I can rest my foot and practice my dance. October 26 is another 5K with a family run and a kid's dash, so Little Bear and I will be participating in that. Then November is FULL of races! So Exciting!!!! I think I might actually attempt the Thanksgiving Day 5K we have here. It's HUGE and it's early enough that I don't think it will disrupt the day's events.
Living from race to race -- I love it :) I never thought I would anticipate getting up early on the weekends with such joy. It's so funny the path life lays out for us sometimes. Wow...
