I ran four miles on Wednesday. I ran it all, first time I've run an entire run. I decided to take it slow the whole way, to see if I could and I did. Except to let one car go. What a feeling!
I found an old playlist from the early days of attempting to run. Let me first say I am not a fan of Miley Cyrus but I heard this song about three years ago in a gym where I used to work, not knowing who she was.
At that time I was struggling to run for one song, walk for another on the treadmill. That morning, I forgot my ipod. I needed my music so I almost went home! But I told myself just do a brisk walk instead. So this song starts playing in the gym and it gave me a little boost to run a bit. I had no idea who she was but the song inspired me so I downloaded it later that day.
When I decided to attempt to run the full four miles Tuesday, I pulled out the old playlist with The Climb. It inspired me again just like it did three years ago. Excellent lyrics to think about when you are trying to achieve any goal:
Speaking of running, why do people run in the street when there is a perfectly good sidewalk available? At least two days a week when I drive to work in the dark, I weave through a twisty residential street and as I come around a curve, there are runners coming at me in the street, no reflective gear. Just curious why they wouldn't run on the perfectly good sidewalk right there.
Now it's time to decide my weekend goals to make the Monday version of myself proud of the weekend version of myself.
1. Meditate - haven't gotten around this October goal yet.
2. Strength training - I've gotten back into the SP Boot Camp Total Body Workout. Makes me sore for days.... and stronger for it.
3. Green smoothies - getting my five a day is hard on the weekends. Green smoothies are a great way to fit that in.
So sparkfriends, let's lock arms dance and take on the weekend because "we go together like rama lama lama ka dinga da dinga dong"....
